Do you want to become a police officer, firefighter, army member, or. another profession that requires a physical test? Here is your Guide to mastering any physical test.
You studied for two years to become a police officer, and when you graduate, you realize that you didn’t train for the physical test. This scenario is so common because people usually focus on improving only the theoretical part of the course and forget one of the most important things, the PHYSICAL EXAM.

The physical test is one of the most underestimated parts of the process. Students think that they can pass it only by training a few days before the exam. Sometimes, they pass, but the majority fail.
But why do they fail?
Simple: The physical test is not impossible to complete, and you don’t need to be an athlete to achieve it. However, you must have at least the minimum fitness condition to get there.
Those tests do not matter if the candidate is going to the army, police, firefighter, or another area. They always require the same physical qualities: strength, power, and cardio.
If the candidate does not have the basics, they will fail.
For this reason, we developed your guide to mastering any physical test.
Here is the list of what you have to do before you start training:
1- Know exactly how the test is.
2- Understand that you need time to improve.
3- You have to keep in mind that you are not training just for the test but for your future career.
4- Define small goals.
5- Do the first step.
Now that you have done the first list, let’s go for action.
The first thing that you will do is simulate the test for the first time. This way, you will be able to see where you are, what your weaknesses are, and what your strongest areas are.
You’ll need to develop good cardio and strength. For this, you will need to train accordingly.
For a safe journey, we recommend you start with the basic movements. If you master the basic movements, you will increase your performance much more easily and far from injuries.

The basic movements are:
Squat
Deadlift
Pull-up / Row
Push-up
If you are good at those movements, the more complex ones will be easier.
Another important thing to do is improve your cardio. You have some options for this.
First option: Run will be very important because running tests are in almost all tests. So, you need to know how to run correctly. Running is something that you can do everywhere. Go for a jogging outside or use a treadmill. Try to record your workouts to track your improvement.
The second option is to create circuit workouts. These will allow you to develop your cardiovascular system. A mix of exercises like push-pull and upper- and lower-body exercises will improve your cardio.

*Remember: You need cardio, but you also need to run. So, don’t forget your running sessions.
Now that you know where to start, you must split this in your week. It is not recommended to train hard and use the same stimulus every day.
Here is a good example:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Weekend |
Upper body push Lower body pull | Upper body pull Lower body push | Stretch training Rest | Core Running session | Circuit Training | Rest and go for a walk |
This is just an example of what you can do. Does not exist in a perfect way. Each person will adjust to fit better in their life. The most important thing is to be consistent and not skip steps. Every step will allow you to increase your performance.
